I thought that this last day of August is a good day to share some of my sketching and drawing since the last time, as I am flying to Slovenia today, getting to my family around midnight. How magical!
The first drawing is the sunrise at Triglav, Slovenian highest peak (and a national symbol), with the prominent and significant Aljazev Stolp. Unfortunately, I forgot to write down the name of the photographer of this shot.
On the same day, I drew directly with a brush a scene from The Gone series that I was watching in the night, no sketching.
I made again two paintings in one day some days later; the first one with watercolour pencils and the second one just with green ink and a grey Fudenoke brushpen.
I do enjoy direct drawing with a brush, shaping the colours, the scene more loosely, more organically - similarly to how I see the world without my glasses. And I love that world of mine!
Next, we are moving to my moving phase, out of the old into a new place, new era.
Hehe, I like this memory of my last day of moving…I used my scooter as a trolley - put on it a wooden bench and secure/steer it with a chair! It was surprisingly an easy walk to my new place (not a long distance).
For a long time I had on my wish list to sketch this Camberwell street that I cycled on it many times, so it was fitting to finally do it as I was moving out from that area.
Often, I just feel, need to move a brush, feel the colours, let them flow with my brush, with no reference or vision. I do enjoy those abstract drawings, I feel they are taking me somewhere.
And from my new era/new place two drawings
A simple quick sketch in the morning on my way to work - I chose to sit down, for a change, and rather enjoy 10 minutes with my cortado and Danish pastry while sketching at the same time. Loved it!
And the sunrise from my bedroom;
That’s all. I am taking with me to Slovenia my sketchbook, of course, along with Derwent watercolour paint set, and some pencils, fountain pens and brushpens.
Time to pack for my flight! Enjoy your days and nights, yeah, and relax into the timing of the change (heard these words today from Jamye Price on her September video). Yes, I needed to hear them.
I look forward to your sketches from Slovenia. Have you actually climbed Triglav? I have not. And I don't feel any strong urge to do so.
Happy holidays, lovely memory sketches👍
